FAQsHow much does it cost to play tackle football in SYF?
$175 - New Players | $150 - Returning Players When does the tackle football league start? Games start in the middle of August and the season ends the beginning of October. Exact dates depend on scheduling from year to year. Practices will begin the end of July. When and where are practices? Practices begin the end of July. Teams may start on different dates. Typically, a team will practice 3 or 4 times a week before season begins and 2 or 3 times a week during season. Locations vary by team. When will we get equipment? All players will pick up equipment in June. Your coach will contact you with pick up information. What equipment is covered in the cost and what equipment do I need to buy? The registration fee covers most equipment the player will need to play…helmet, shoulder pads, game pants, pant pads. Some teams will fund raise to buy their own jersey’s, and that may be a little extra cost. Each player needs to buy their own practice pants, practice jersey, shoes, chin strap and mouthpiece. Some of these items will be available for purchase at equipment pick up. Are there anymore fees after I pay the registration for tackle football? Other than what equipment you need to buy [mentioned above], there are no more fees. However, some teams will order their own jerseys. This is sometimes done through a sponsor and sometimes parents will buy the jerseys. That all depends on the team. What is the practice and play time policy? While there is no league-wide policy on the number of practices a player must attend to play, we do suggest to all coaches that if a player does not come to at least half of the scheduled practices that player should not play the first half of the game and maybe not at all. Please understand, this is a safety issue. In football, if a player does not know what is suppose to happen he/she may get hurt. It is very important that players make all scheduled practices. If my son starts playing and decides he does not like it, can I get my money back? Unfortunately, we do not give refunds after July 15. The reason is because we have already spent money on equipment, insurance, and other expenses. Football is an expensive sport. It costs the league more than the registration fee for a child to play. Here is a small list of expenses the league has every year…helmets, helmet pieces, shoulder pads, shoulder pad pieces, pants, pant pads, jerseys, insurance, field maintenance, referees, promotion and advertising and the list goes on. What is the School Boundary Policy? Springfield Youth Football is a school boundary league. Our city is divided up into two halves; north and south with South Grand as the dividing line. It is our policy that what school a child goes to will dictate the team he/she will be assigned to. At any time, should a child change schools, the league and the coach need to be notified. At that time, consideration will be made as to a change. Should a parent or coach misinform the league of the school a child goes to, that child will be suspended from playing the rest of the year and possibly the year following. It is the responsibility of the parent and the coach to report accurate information. The league will do school checks when deemed necessary. We have given our word to the teams we play that we will abide by this policy and our integrity is in jeopardy when it is not followed. |
